Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) opportunity available now at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Williams Lake, B.C. This is a casual full-time/part-time position. Days of work are rotating and shift times include days and evenings.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. What Will You Work On
As a member of the MLA team, you will perform a variety of duties in accessioning, outpatients and hospital collections. Typically this involves a lot of patient interaction through collecting blood and other specimens, preparing blood and specimens for analysis, sample processing and send out to outside Labs. Your responsibilities will also include using the Laboratory Information System (LIS), Holter monitor set-up & placement and ECG testing and some other clerical duties.

Cariboo Memorial Hospital has 28 inpatient beds, 14 Emergency beds plus a trauma room, in addition to a 4-bed ICU and obstetrics unit. CMH is a very close-knit team of multi-disciplinary professionals and we pride ourselves on supporting one another in the Lab, and across the facility.
The fast pace, acuity and unique needs of every patient offer the opportunity to learn and develop your skill set. CMH is a diverse care environment that is undergoing expansion and there are opportunities in the Lab and other departments, as the site and community grows. You will be a part of the bigger IH network with access to colleagues, resources, employee services, education and training; whatever direction your career takes you.
