We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Facility Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of a variety of municipal facilities within the Facilities and Major Projects Department. This role involves supervising building and equipment maintenance, janitorial and custodial services, and coordinating contracted services for repairs. As a key team leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of community recreation facilities, heritage buildings, and other municipal properties.

This role involves supervising building and equipment maintenance, janitorial and custodial services, and coordinating contracted services for repairs. As a key team leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of community recreation facilities, heritage buildings, and other municipal properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee building and equipment maintenance, custodial services, and janitorial operations for municipal and community recreation facilities.
- Establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Identify the need for contracted maintenance or repairs, manage the process, and ensure quality work is completed on time and within budget.
- Lead and supervise a team of operational staff, including training, performance monitoring, and participation in hiring processes.
- Prepare and monitor operating and capital budgets related to facility maintenance and repairs, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Work closely with user groups to coordinate the scheduling of special events and programs as required.
- Maintain accurate records, purchase requisitions, and correspondence related to facility maintenance, repairs, and operations.
- Foster positive working relationships with department staff, contractors, and the public.
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance, repair, and janitorial operations for municipal buildings and equipment. Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
- Proficiency in supervising large teams, coordinating multiple tasks, and ensuring operational excellence.
- Ability to plan and implement maintenance schedules, supervise contractors, and manage budgets.
- Ability to manage inventories, requisition materials, and maintain financial records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by technical courses in facilities management or a related field.
- Facilities Management or Building Operators Certification (or equivalent).
- Considerable experience in supervising municipal facility maintenance operations.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
