Position Information

This is a clinical nurse educator position to support the 6th Floor Observation Unit and AMA.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8 hours shifts.

Basic Requirements

  • Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing;
  • Masters in Nursing or Education or equivalent;
  • Five (5) years recent surgery nursing experience, including two (2) years of critical care experience;
  • Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO);
  • Positive interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both oral and written format;
  • Ability to direct, supervise, teach, advise nursing personnel in the area of nursing standards;
  • Ability to use effective teaching strategies incorporating educational theories and practice standards;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability;
  • Demonstrates skilled clinical practice;
  • Demonstrated group facilitator skills;
  • Demonstrated effective presentation skills;
  • Thorough working knowledge of current nursing theories, research and practice standards;
  • Thorough working knowledge of current and future trends in health care;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current legislation affecting patients and employees;


Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years teaching experience;
  • Recent experience in General Surgery;
  • Recent experience with ENT and Thoracic surgery;
  • Clinical experience relevant to acute surgical patients;
  • Membership in Specialty related Professional Association;
  • Certification in a clinical speciality;
  • Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
