Senior Solutions Engineer - Budgeting

The Opportunity

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in public sector financial management, including managing government budgets, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies, along with experience in budget software implementations. This role is designed for a seasoned professional who can navigate the complexities of government financial systems while offering strategic insights to support the configuration of complex software budgeting systems.

In this role, you will support the Budget Enterprise team working directly with government agencies, municipal departments, and public sector stakeholders to accurately identify the needs and challenges of state and large local government prospects. You will assist the sales team to demonstrate how software configurations facilitate budgetary processes that comply with government regulations, and drive data-driven effective decisions for operational efficiency and budget planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and configure the Budget Enterprise solution for clients based on their specific needs.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to gather requirements and ensure seamless integration with existing financial systems.
• Provide expert guidance on best practices in budget planning, forecasting, and reporting.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in financial planning and budgeting technology.
• Own the strategy for delivering product demos, ensuring maximum impact and effectiveness.
• Acquire and maintain a deep knowledge of Budget Enterprise products and solutions.
• Attend joint sales calls with Account Executives to conduct in-person or web-based demos.
• Prepare for demos by collaborating with Account Executives and conducting research into customer requirements.
• Customize demo databases to be relevant for each market vertical.
• Liaise with the Product Development team and Project Managers to ensure alignment between promised functionality and delivered solutions.
• Collaborate with Sales, IT teams, external vendors, and internal stakeholders to define software requirements, system configuration, and customized workflows to support the unique needs of government budgeting processes.
• Review annual budgets for state and local government entities, to understand both alignment and areas for improvement with government priorities, mandates, and regulations.
• Analyze prospect revenue streams, expenditures, and funding sources (e.g., taxes, grants, state/federal funding) to provide insights into improved processes.
• Review policies to compare prospect budget development and execution with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as government accounting standards (e.g., GASB, GFOA). Advise on compliance with fiscal policies, legal restrictions, and funding limitations specific to the public sector.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in financial planning, budgeting, or enterprise software implementation.
• Strong presentation skills, comfortable speaking in front of large audiences.
• Ability to translate complex concepts and articulate them clearly and concisely.
• Experience with finance, accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ability to relate to diverse individuals across a wide range of positions from C-level to analyst
  
  

Working Conditions

• Some irregular hours may be required for travel and responding to customer RFPs.
• 10-15% travel within North America, sometimes requiring overnight and weekend stays.

Preference will be given for candidates near Oakville, ON or Atlanta, GA.
