Job Summary
The Healthcare Staff Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that an exemplary level of customer service is being provided by Carecor’s healthcare providers at our contracted acute care facilities within Nova Scotia. A large part of the role will include orientation, preceptorship, training and support of newly hired Carecor healthcare providers, including N95 Mask Fit Testing (scheduling and testing), General Orientation (scheduling and presenting), other testing (such as IPAC quizzes and PPE verification), assisting with organizing on unit orientations, and direct staff supervision of regulated (Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse) and unregulated care providers (Personal Support Workers, Unit Aides, Unit Clerks, and Patient Attendants as required) in collaboration with our existing Healthcare Staff Supervisor team. The Healthcare Staff Supervisor will be the on-site liaison between the facility/client (Charge Nurse, Managers, Nurse Educators) and Carecor’s Healthcare Providers (HCP’s).
- Full-time, Permanent
- 37.5 hours per week.
- Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 4:30 pm. Hours may be flexible as required.
- Shift work, including some evenings and weekends may be required depending on healthcare provider schedule.
- On-call support for Clinical Emergencies, on a rotation schedule, as required.

- Ensures that Carecor’s Vision, Mission and Value statement are demonstrated by our healthcare providers at our client facility sites.
- Assist with arranging on-site orientation shifts for Healthcare Providers (HCP’s) as part of Carecor’s onboarding process.
- May be required to organize and deliver/present virtual/in-person General Orientation sessions to new employees.
- Participates in organizing continuing education/training initiatives for HCP’s.
- Provides direct, on-site observations, education support and supervision of Carecor’s Unregulated Health Care Provider’ (HCP’s).
- Completes timely follow-up on specific incidents/concerns, including clinical practice, privacy, attendance management, sleeping, and professional presence/attitude.
- Ensures that Probationary/Annual performance evaluations of employees are completed.
- Liaises with healthcare providers to obtain feedback on assignments, quality improvement and risk management issues and learning needs.
- Ensures that healthcare providers are providing care that is consistent with health and safety practices.
- Perform N95 Mask Fit Testing for in-office for employees.
- Complete review of IPAC/PPE training materials for employees.
- Participates in weekly leadership, communication, and supervisor meetings.
- Participates in Health and Safety programs, acting as the Health and Safety Representative.
- RN or LPN with current registration with Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN), or applicable regulatory body, who is in good standing without any restrictions to practice.
- Minimum (1 year) experience working in an acute care hospital on a medical or surgical unit.
- Strong clinical and training skills. Previous supervisory and/or training experience with HCP’s strongly preferred.
- Strong computer/technology skills; including employee databases, scheduling systems, other computer programs, and Microsoft systems (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication (written, verbal, non-verbal) skills, conflict resolution skills and outgoing/positive personality.
- Strong teamwork skills, outgoing personality, and strong conflict resolution skills.
- Takes initiative. Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Additional languages considered an asset.
- Must comply with communicable disease requirements (MMRV, TB Skin Test); including fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
- Willing to undergo a Police Check with Vulnerable Sector.
- Current BLS (First Aid) and N95 Mask Fit Test.
- Must have valid provincial driver’s license and (not required daily, could work around a car share service) access to a car as travel is required to various healthcare facilities
