The Global Incentive Compensation (GIC) team at Salesforce is a global leader for sales compensation in the technology industry. We manage the sales compensation for all Salesforce end to end - from designing the sales compensation plan to enable the company’s go-to-market strategy to administering the payment so that our sales teams get paid on time.
The GIC Analytics team strives to elevate operational efficiency and business decision-making through data-driven insights. We are looking for a passionate Data Analyst to contribute to our Data Strategy and build valuable business impact across multiple teams. As a GIC Analytics Analyst, you will curate and manage large datasets, develop dashboards, and automate key processes to mitigate risk and drive operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with technical tools like SQL, Snowflake, Tableau, and Python and possess a deep understanding of how to bridge data insights to actionable business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze & Interpret: Analyze large datasets from Salesforce, SQL/Snowflake to identify financial and operational risks, and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Develop & Maintain BI: Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards to support critical functions, including financial reporting, month-end close, and SOX compliance.
- Automate & Streamline: Develop and maintain automated data pipelines and solutions using Python, improving efficiency and automating manual processes such as manual key SOX controls.
- Collaborate & Communicate: Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, and Business Technology to understand data needs, deliver solutions, and communicate complex information clearly.
- Ensure Data Integrity: Serve as the subject matter expert for key financial and operational data sources, ensuring data integrity, quality, governance, and adherence to SOX requirements.
- Data Governance: Develop and maintain a comprehensive Data Definition Library to ensure data governance, classification, and standardization across teams.
- Data Pipeline Management: Collaborate with Business Technology to build, maintain, and ensure the SOX compliance of critical data pipelines.
- Problem Solving: Create innovative approaches to solve challenges related to data analysis, automation, and data governance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in data analytics, reporting, and data management, with a focus on Finance and/or Operations.
- SQL/Snowflake: Proficiency in SQL/Snowflake, including query authoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Tableau: Proficiency in building and maintaining Tableau dashboards.
- Python: Experience with Python for data manipulation, automation, and scripting.
- Excel: Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Data Governance: Demonstrated understanding of data governance principles and practices.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect data insights to business operations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for Data: A genuine interest in data, technology, and industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Data Science, or another quantitative field preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, reporting, and data management within Finance and Operations.
- Advanced Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Advanced proficiency in SQL/Snowflake.
- Advanced proficiency in building Tableau dashboards.
- Proficiency in Python.
- SOX Knowledge: Strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements.
- Automation Experience: Experience building automated data solutions.
- Data Governance Tools: Experience with data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Alation, Metaspace).
- CRM/Compensation Systems: Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and compensation systems.
- Sales Compensation: Experience in sales compensation analysis or administration.
- Data Pipeline Ownership: Experience managing data pipelines across a business unit.
- Communication & Influence: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
