Function description:

Supports the management and stores within RONA Operation, Asset Protection & Safety. Activities include developing health and safety strategies and policies to meet business needs; planning, administering and reviewing activities concerned with health & safety along with the development and implementation of health & safety learning materials and programs to reduce injuries and accidents.

Purpose of the role:

The primary purpose of this role is to support the implementation, management and continuous improvement of an effective and efficient Health and Safety Program for RONA. This includes responsibility for leading a Health and Safety Leadership Culture among business leaders that will foster leadership behaviors to reduce injuries and accidents within the workplace.

Responsabilities

  • Actively promote and support the establishment of a safety culture that focuses on influencing behaviour across all business units.
  • Ensure that all RONA locations and banners are in compliance with the various regulations and legislation concerning health and safety.
  • Support the implementation of health and safety programs and policies by influencing and collaborating with management teams.
  • Actively contribute to projects by the Health and Safety team.
  • Take part in activities to keep up to date in the field and apply business intelligence to RONA.
  • Ensure the delivery of H&S training and education
  • Participate in and support Joint Health and Safety Committee activities
  • Conduct site reviews to ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Monitor work accidents with an objective of the identification of “root cause” and prevention.
  • Partner with the presence management team to ensure there is follow-up to any work-related injuries and the prevention of future occurrences
  • Track exemptions issued by business and regulatory authorities
