Environmental Affairs Associate Specialist - Hybrid

As an Environmental Affairs Associate Specialist, you will report to the Senior Director of Communication and Business Administration and will be responsible for ISO 14001 environmental standards compliance. Your ability to build relationships and recommend solutions will help you to ensure compliance with government regulations and promote environmental awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in partnering with Canon Canada sites and business units to develop and recommend objectives that comply with ISO 14001 standards and evaluate high risk vendors during the procurement process.
- Assist with the review of all environmental policies, procedures, and activities for each business unit/ Canadian location and ensure they are aligned.
- Collaborate with team to conduct internal environmental audits across Canada and coordinate external audits.
- Review less complex audits which identify gaps, opportunity for improvement, and strengths and develop action plans.
- Act as environmental brand ambassador with government agencies, industrial associations, and customers.
- Prepare various reports for government bodies, Canon USA, and Canon Japan.
- Assist with ensuring all employees have updated environmental information and training.
- Participate in joint health and safety committees as an advisor.
To Succeed, You Will Need:
- Post-secondary education in environmental sustainability or business administration
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience
- Strong project and process management skills
- Excellent analytical skills to review environmental legislation or audit reports, and recommend any changes necessary to comply
- Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
- Good computer and technical skills, including Microsoft Office
- Lead Audit Certification for ISO 14001 is considered an asset
