Job Description
We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our Gallivan team in Waterloo, Ontario.
Gallivan, a People Corporation company, offers a range of group insurance coverage programs including extended health and dental benefit plans, coverage for international student groups, mental health, and wellness as well as legal plans. We are looking for a dynamic individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to join our team in Waterloo.
This individual will have a technical background and will successfully maintain our current enrolment processing system and provide support to the Enrolment team as our business continually evolves. This position will be responsible for the development of enrolment processing tools that will streamline data validation and error correction. This individual will complete incoming client and plan coordinator requests at the insurer level to ensure that the appropriate information is applied. Additionally, this position will perform implementation and ongoing monitoring of the organization’s data security practices and requirements. The ideal candidate will be able to provide support in the exchange of data from unstructured sources and transform this data into the company system.

The Data Analyst will:
- Process intake files and generate accurate outputs in a timely manner.
- Identify, debug, and report system errors, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations.
- Design, enhance, and optimize processing systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Implement necessary updates and modifications to processing systems based on business requirements.
- Perform manual data updates and corrections in both internal and carrier databases as needed.
- Conduct data analysis to generate high-quality reports and insights that support decision-making.
- Explain processes and data insights to clients and leadership in a clear and professional manner.
- Support troubleshooting and issue resolution related to data processing and analysis.
- Ensure accurate data reconciliation, identifying discrepancies and resolving them efficiently.
- Maintain strict data security standards and promptly report any potential risks or vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workflows, automation, and data integrity.
- Work closely with team members and stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems.
- Ensure all processes and reports are completed accurately, following established standards and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related with emphasis on programming, or 2-year Diploma in programming or software development related.
- Proficiency in Excel and Excel functions.
- Solid knowledge of coding with VBA and macros.
- Strong understanding of Macros and coding of macros in MS office.
- Excellent communication skills with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize competing demands in order to meet client and company needs.
- High attention to detail.
- Motivated self-learner who wants to learn the business and contribute to enhancing enrolment processes.
- Sensitivity to confidential information.
- Experience with other programming languages such as SQL, Python.
- Familiarity with text code editors.
- Experience with source control.
- Experience developing applications.
