Under the supervision of the Assistant Coordinator of Application Services, the Student Information Systems Technologist plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of student information system data, processes, integrations, and reporting. This position collaborates closely with the Application Services team, leveraging advanced technical expertise to resolve complex problems, support high-level issues, troubleshoot data-related concerns, and create educational resources for system users of the student information system.

This position is located at the Sarnia Education Centre.
Temporary, CUPE 12, 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
Level 6 - $33.52/hour - $35.47/hour

Under the supervision of the Assistant Coordinator of Application Services, the Student Information Systems Technologist plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of student information system data, processes, integrations, and reporting. This position collaborates closely with the Application Services team, leveraging advanced technical expertise to resolve complex problems, support high-level issues, troubleshoot data-related concerns, and create educational resources for system users of the student information system.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Assistant Coordinator of Application Services to provide technical support and maintain system enhancements, procedures, and data integrations within the student information system;
- Responsible for assisting in the review, analysis, and validation of student information for accuracy through the use of various technical skills and reports such as SQL scripts;
- Collaborate with the Application Services team to support school office staff in managing procedures, addressing complex issues, ensuring data accuracy in the student information system, and performing month-end checks;
- Assist in the development of business system requirements and creation of reports related to student information;
- Assist the Application Services team in supporting ONSIS submissions by testing and reporting application issues in the student information system to the vendor;
- Assist in providing ongoing student information training and documentation development to support continued learning and improved ministry compliancy.
- Minimum three-year diploma in Computer Studies, or degree in Computer Studies preferred; equivalent extensive relevant experience may be considered;
- A minimum of 3 years related experience with Student Information Systems, service management, and account management with preference in a K-to-12 school board;
- Experience using SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Report Services, PowerBI, SQL Database and writing SQL queries;
- In-depth experience with core software applications including Student Information Systems, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office 365 Suite;
- Experience writing business system requirements for enhancements and reports;
- Knowledge and understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python, Javascript, Java);
- Knowledge and experience with Ontario's educational data requirements and enrolment practices is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both orally and in writing;
- Excellent problem solving, solution seeking and analytical skills;
- Superior organizational, prioritization and time management skills;
- Knowledge of school board administrative procedures and ministry guidelines;
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
