The PHAI is a federal initiative to clean-up low-level radioactive waste in Port Hope and Clarington. The project involves remediating contaminated sites and consolidating the wastes in an engineered mound in the community. The PHAI Project has a very high public profile and is a top priority for the Government of Canada and the Port Hope area communities.
The Project Manager, Major Sites is accountable for the delivery of large-scale remediation and restoration projects, with a focus on Industrial Sites and Highland Drive, characterized as multi-year in duration, often involving substantial safety and regulatory requirements with many internal and external interactions, contracts requiring substantial negotiation of terms and conditions, having many work packages, resources, and interfaces to manage, and involving a significant financial commitment

What will you be doing!
Project Delivery
- Plan, organize, lead and control the integration of all work areas and disciplines within the project efficiently and effectively.
- Implement project management tools, methods, and best practices to plan and manage projects in a way that aligns with the expectations of stakeholders and meet business needs.
- Ensure all designs and work plans incorporate safety, health, and the environment.
- Robust managing change in scope, schedule, costs, and impact to stakeholders against the project baseline.
- Identify project risks and barriers and the development of mitigation strategies.
- Report and regularly interface with the senior management and clients regarding project status updates and expectations.
- Balance and determine project priorities and the division of responsibilities.
- Execute the contract and procurement strategy.
- Accountable for leading a team of CNL staff, consultants, and contractors in the remediation of the LLRW on the site(s).
- Builds and sustains a positive work environment and motivates the team to deliver quality results on time and on budget
- Defines roles and responsibilities and set goals. Manage performance of collective and individual team members, through objectives and feedback.
- Mentor, coach, and instruct team members for success in project management, leadership, and business delivery.
- Ensuring all team members use applicable safety equipment and adhere to safe work policies/practices, radiation protection policies/practices and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills while client-and stakeholder facing with direct communication, ethics, and integrity.
- Leading technical direction, stakeholder management, communication plan, resources (internal/external) management and execution of overall client initiative with an integrated team approach.
- Frequently collaborate with the Communications & Stakeholder Relations team, providing and receiving input, participating in public relations events as needed.
- Functional knowledge of federal and provincial regulatory requirements related to nuclear and remediation.
- Understands and implements substantial safety and licensing requirements with many internal and external regulatory interactions, contracts requiring substantial negotiation of terms and conditions, having many work packages, resources and interfaces to manage.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- A degree or diploma from a college/university relevant to project management, engineering, or equivalent, and a track record for leading large projects from investigation, definition, budgeting, and design, through to construction.
- Experience
- At least ten (10) years of project experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, progressing to a lead or management role.
- Has managed large teams and budgets through complex multi-stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrated experience in all of the typical phases of a project lifecycle (e.g., Project Definition, Concept Development, Detailed Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Decommissioning).
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, resourcing, contract management, and progress reporting for an executive audience.
- Applies all of the 9 project management knowledge areas (i.e., Scope; Cost; Time; QA; Communications; Human Resources; Risk; Procurement; Integration).

- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
