General Function
The Project Manager is responsible for supporting the overall development, execution, and completion of operations projects in Ontario and the Central Region group.
- Define the scope of project(s) in collaboration with team members and management.
- Create a detailed work plan, which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
- Collaboratively determine resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project.
- Liaise with clients and team members to schedule day-to-day operation activities.
- Cost tracking / managing subcontractor costs with internal and external platforms.
- Help determine the objectives and measures with management upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
- Provide clients with milestone reports and budgetary estimates as required.
- Ensure projects and deliverables are on time, within budget, and maintain or exceed the required level of quality.
- Review completed projects for teaching/learning opportunities.
- Respond promptly to Customer / Project issues in co-operation with project staff and management.
- Create, review, and process invoices and claims as required.
- Follow change management processes internally and externally to capture changes to design, costs, and schedule.
- Completions of RFPs for subcontractors, evaluating bids, negotiating price, and ensuring compliance with CSCL subcontractor qualification procedure.
- Ensure field staff are aware of all internal and external safety requirements, as they pertain to certain worksites / clients.
- Development of proposals and budgetary pricing for projects or materials, according to the Authority to Sign document.
- Structure and schedule the Project Team with the supplied staffing personnel to meet project field requirements, performance levels, and budgets.
- Develop the culture of employee's attitudes towards work and each other.
- Ensure internal processes like QAP110, COD, and the PMO processes are being followed for projects.
Operation
- Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
- Monitor the progress of projects and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
- Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project.
- Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
- Review timesheets, expenses, and other project costs to forecast project financial outlook / ensure projects remain on time and on budget.
- Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details / data / information / activities.
Knowledge and Experience
- Post-Secondary Education
- A minimum of 2 years of industry / commercial Project Management experience
- Proficiency in use of project management tools such as Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, MS Projects, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Open Invoice, etc.
- Project management credentials (CAPM / PMP are assets)
- Proficient knowledge of PMI standards and practices
- Good presentation skills and excellent oral and written skills are also required
