Role and Facility Information
Fraser Health (FH) is the heart of health care for nearly two million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to six Métis Chartered Communities.
Our hospital and community-based services are delivered by a team of 45,000+ staff, medical staff and volunteers dedicated to serving our patients, families and communities.
The Psychiatry department at Abbotsford Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide clinical services to Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Services two days a week. The remainder of the time will be dedicated to a mix of inpatient and outpatient services at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Ridge Meadows Hospital, Chilliwack General Hospital, Langley Memorial Hospital, and participating in the on-call child psychiatry rotation at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. As a vital member of multidisciplinary teams, you'll deliver top-notch care to adolescents and their families within an inpatient psychiatric unit, as well as to children, adolescents, and families in community mental health settings.
Your duties encompass assessment, patient treatment, and consultation, conducting family meetings, participating in case conferences, discharge planning, and collaborating with other physicians and multidisciplinary teams. You'll actively foster continuity of care by nurturing positive relationships with all involved in patient care and services, while advocating for the psychiatric needs of each individual patient.
Furthermore, you'll supervise residents and medical students, engage in clinically related teaching services, provide educational consultation and input to the multidisciplinary team, and assist in delivering educational programs for medical staff and students. Your responsibilities extend to participating in evaluating the efficiency, quality, and delivery of services, and, where appropriate, providing consultation for program and service development, as well as engaging in clinical research activities.
