Summary

As an Estimating, you will have the chance to work on complex infrastructure while growing your career. You will be part of a team working on proposals and projects utilizing our expertise in the industry while utilizing emerging technologies to enhance our projects. Collaboration is a key strength with our APD team, and you will have the opportunity to work alongside our multi-disciplinary team members to develop high quality designs and documentation, as well as work in innovative technologies and BIM.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs
  • Assist estimators in completing detailed estimates
  • Solicit and receive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Able to highlight clashes
  • Coordinate with other project disciplines and engineering designers


Requirements

  • Working towards undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • Possess strong mathematical and computer skills (experience with Microsoft Excel, BlueBeam, CPM Scheduling programs, and Bid2Win, or equivalent programs). Experience with AutoCad is desired, but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of construction, with ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of common Ontario heavy construction specifications and practices
  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Demonstrate effective organization/time management skills
  • Strong ability to learn new software, adapt to multiple tasks
  • Vehicle and valid driver’s license
