Position Overview:

Finning Canada is looking for passionate field experienced Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians (Red Seal preferred) to join our industry leading team in Saskatoon. An HET with Finning is responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance and diagnostics of a variety of Caterpillar equipment in the field.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions

  • Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment at customer facilities and work sites
  • Maintain and track inventory and tooling
  • Perform a wide variety of equipment repair diagnostics
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
  • Interact with internal and external customers
  • Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required

Education & Experience

  • Journeyperson Red Seal HET certification required
  • Valid driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
  • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset
  • Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
  • Previous repair and troubleshooting experience with Caterpillar general line products would be considered an asset
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset
  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset
  • Any other relevant training as required would be considered an asset such as:
    • WHMIS
    • H2S Alive
    • Fall Protection
    • Forklift
    • Overhead Crane
    • Eye, Hand and Back Safety
    • Transportation of Dangerous goods
    • Contamination control
