We are looking for an Intermediate Commercial Underwriter for our GCS – Programs division. Aviva offers an excellent career opportunity. We are seeking an Intermediate underwriter to join our programs team. Your role will involve evaluating, analyzing, and applying effective pricing for more sophisticated risks in property and casualty insurance for businesses. You will be in direct contact with brokers and/or customers and seize new business and renewal opportunities while demonstrating remarkable technical expertise.

What You'll Do

  • Assess and evaluate risks for new and existing business of increased complexity, including new programs.
  • Maintain the quality and profitability of the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the engineering department to understand and identify key trends and recommendations to help develop positive outcomes for our clients, brokers, and company.
  • Ensure our dedication to the risk management and follow up on outstanding recommendations.
  • Review, report, and discuss remediation on large losses.
  • Build and manage relationships with other departments and external stakeholders to provide outstanding service to brokers and clients.
  • Maintain the quality and profitability of the program’s portfolio; refer all risks exceeding delegated authority limits to specialists.
  • Help identifies potential issues in loss ratios and risk trends, as well as any other anomalies; apply strategies to address them as needed.
  • Learn all systems and programs used in commercial insurance.
  • Participate in quality controls and audits as needed.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, new developments, and regulatory changes.

What You'll Bring

  • 5 years of experience in commercial insurance production.
  • CIP, FCIP designations acquired or in progress.
  • Solid understanding of risk analysis, pricing, and products in key segments, such as industries, public sector, or retailers.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk selection principles, insurance contracts, pricing programs, and risk information sources.
  • Functional knowledge of other areas (claims, risk management, accounting, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of underwriting philosophy, insurance contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, underwriting information, technical manuals, and statutory constraints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, RTM, commercial insurance systems, and related systems.
  • Ability to interact professionally to build long-term relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal partners to ensure excellent broker and client experience.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in seeking business opportunities with brokers and clients.
  • Ability to listen to brokers' and clients' needs and respond effectively.
  • Team spirit.
