Join Loblaw Companies Limited as a Merchant in our Home & Entertainment (H&E) Division, where you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional products and customer programs across the country at our grocery retail stores including Real Canadian Superstore. Reporting to the Category Director, you'll be part of a dynamic and diverse team that is data-driven, customer-focused, and passionate about celebrating holidays! What You'll Do:
- Create seasonal in/out programs leveraging data and analytics to build strategic plans that best serve customers, and that achieve intended financial outcomes.
- Research the competitive landscape and understand industry benchmarking standards on pricing, assortment, merchandising, promotional activity and more.
- Evaluate new product and/or platform innovation and work directly with vendors on product innovation and program development for our private labels.
- Lead and assist vendor program meetings and product costing debates. Play an active role in leading vendors’ financial performance and product assortment.
- Construct strategic promotional plans executing programs working with internal partners marketing your programs through internal and external sources.
- Set and achieve goals, working united with various colleagues in merchandising, operations, control brands, supply chain, loyalty, e-commerce, marketing, media, and other divisions.
- Build positive relationships with category vendors and external partners.
- Support the Category Director in assortment optimization analysis, planogram design and in-store merchandising strategies, working in coordination with Associate Merchants, Space Planners, and Supply Chain colleagues.
- Build program assortments including product selection with exciting product development aspects working and negotiating with vendors on costing and quantities.
What You'll Need:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- At least one year’s experience as a merchant/buyer, in retail sales, or merchandising.
- Ability to work in person at least 4 times a week in our Toronto Liberty Village office.
- Ability to multi-task & prioritize with a high sense of urgency.
- Detail oriented and well organized.
- A curious and bold approach with a sense of market trends and a keen eye for design.
- Ability to innovate, influence others, and collaborate with many complementary teams.
- Analytical approach and experience using data to make decisions.
- Financial, business and retail knowledge.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Teams and confidence working with various software platforms.
