Reporting to the Food Safety Champion, the Food Safety Training Co-ordinator will be responsible for the facilitation of the Ontario Food Safety Training Program at the Brampton, Mississauga, and Distribution Centre facilities directly supporting the continuing improvement of food safety culture.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. ( fully on-site, NOT a remote position. Flexibility to work overtime is required)

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitate orientation, refresher, and return to work food safety training for new and existing employees at Ontario facilities.
  • Perform monthly and as-needed food safety on-site verification of procedures and work instructions including (but not limited to) manufacturing instructions, quality checks and training competency confirmation using Alchemy Coach.
  • Performs weekly virtual hand wash audits then summarize and trend data to present at the monthly Management Review Meetings.
  • Communicates any unsuccessful training event, inspection or audit to the appropriate team and support corrective actions including retraining or one-on-one coaching for successful completion as required.
  • Input Food Safety training data into Alchemy Manager to convert paper to electronic records.
  • Assists with the maintenance of food safety training matrix for all levels of employees directly involved or supporting manufacturing activities at Brampton, Mississauga and the Distribution Centre.
  • Supports content development by summarizing and reporting on feedback obtained from food safety training events and suggesting ways to continuously improve.
  • Assist with the creation of one-point lessons, posters and tv displays for food safety and quality competencies.
  • Back up to Quality Assurance Coordinator – Audit Programs to perform internal inspections and audits at Brampton, Mississauga and the Distribution Centre as required.
  • Policies, Processes & Procedures a. Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures. b. Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Promote and comply with all Maple Lodge Farms Health & Safety, Quality Assurance (Animal Welfare) , and Environmental Management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

What You Will Bring

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in learning and development and/or quality assurance in the food manufacturing industry (preferably in meat and a unionized environment);
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
  • Team-player with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • General computer skills (e.g. MS Office).
  • Post Secondary Diploma in a related field required.
