This role involves managing staff, coordinating maintenance efforts, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

General and Administrative

- Supervise daily activities in the flexible pouch and pressure sensitive department, coordinating production to meet schedules and customer requirements.
- Manage production schedules, ensuring timely job completions and optimizing workflow across the pressroom.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Coordinate and track production activities and schedules, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget
- Communicate project status to stakeholders and escalate issues as needed
- Assist in the preparation of production reports, including status reports, production schedules, and project budgets
- Participate in production meetings to discuss project status, identify issues, and propose solutions
- Monitor print quality and perform inspections to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
- Address any quality issues promptly, making necessary adjustments to minimize waste and downtime.
- Collaborate with the Prepress department to ensure accurate setups and color matching.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs for all press and pouch equipment, liaising with vendors and maintenance staff.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and minimize disruptions by coordinating timely repair services.
- Track and report on equipment performance, suggesting improvements or replacements as needed.
- Schedule, train, and manage flexible pouch department employees to ensure they are skilled and meet production and quality expectations.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
- Facilitate ongoing training programs on new equipment, safety protocols, and process improvements.
- Oversee inventory management for flexible pouch and pressure sensitive materials, including ink, rolls, zippers, tooling, dies, and other supplies.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to manage inventory levels and ensure production needs are met.
- Enforce safety guidelines and ensure a safe working environment, regularly reviewing safety protocols with the team.
- Conduct safety inspections and report any hazards to the Operations Manager, HR, or the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
- Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards, including OSHA, to maintain a zero-incident environment.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement strategies to improve productivity, reduce waste, and control costs.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance department efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to optimize pressroom operations.
- Collaborate with Production, Prepress, and Quality Control teams to coordinate job priorities and resolve production challenges.
- Communicate effectively with the Scheduler to manage workflow and minimize bottlenecks
- Other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled in a Diploma or Bachelor's degree program in Print, Graphic Communications, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of all facets of print production which include but not limited to Digital Printing Press, Pressure Sensitive Labels, Pouch Structure Construction and Pouch converting
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams with tactfulness and professionalism.
- Strong mathematical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
