Interior Health is currently seeking a Long-term Care Attendant to join our team at Nelson Fairview Gardens in beautiful Nelson, B.C.

As the Long-term Care Attendant (LTCA) you will work as an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, who provide care and support in a long-term care setting. Working under the direction of RN’s and LPN’s, LTCA’s have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are supported, while promoting maximum independence.
Typical Duties Include
Shifts of work will be scheduled days, evenings and nights; rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00, 23:00 to 07:00 hours.
Please note: Start date may be adjusted in the event of revisions to LTC opening date and plan. Schedule will be adjusted, prior to the opening of the LTC facility to residents, to a Monday-Friday schedule (0830-1630h), prorated to FTE. This will facilitate robust orientation, training, & education, and LTC set-up.

Introducing Nelson Fairview Gardens, a brand-new facility operated by Interior Health as part of the
new Nelson Community Health Campus. This state-of-the-art building will accommodate 75 adults in
need of long-term care. The facility features five distinct neighborhoods across three floors, offering both covered and open outdoor spaces with breathtaking mountain and lake views.
Located in Nelson, a charming city with over 10,000 residents, forming one of the three principal urban centers in the Kootenay Boundary region. Conveniently located midway between Vancouver and Calgary, Nelson is just a 30-minute drive from Castlegar and an hour from Trail, both of which offer commercial airports. Nelson is celebrated for its blend of “storybook charm and cosmopolitan sophistication.” Situated on the shores of Kootenay Lake, it offers a world-class recreational playground in a pristine setting, complemented by all the amenities of modern urban life.

The design of Nelson Fairview Gardens prioritizes resident comfort and staff safety. Each room is a private single occupancy space, with some adaptable for couples through adjoining rooms. - Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment
- Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
- Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
- Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
- Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
- Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks
