What You’ll Do
Purpose of the role
The Merchandising Manager is an individual contributor role that plays a key part in supporting the Head of Frames and Store Proposition by delivering and executing frame range and merchandising strategies across Canada. This role involves collaborating on the definition of frame merchandising and product training strategies while ensuring consistent merchandising support for Specsavers stores. The Merchandising Manager is responsible for overseeing the display of frames, POS, and accessories to maintain a cohesive in-store experience. Additionally, they define and deliver effective merchandising communications and product training through various channels. Working closely with the marketing team, they help select products for campaigns and brand launches. They also ensure efficient stock and inventory management, keeping stores visually appealing and well-stocked at all times.

What You’ll Do

Additionally, they define and deliver effective merchandising communications and product training through various channels. Working closely with the marketing team, they help select products for campaigns and brand launches. They also ensure efficient stock and inventory management, keeping stores visually appealing and well-stocked at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising
- Effective merchandising management (seasonal/demographic Merchandising)
- Liaise with the Retail, Business Development and Marketing teams to ensure execution at store level exceeds expectations
- Manage and maintain all documents relating to merchandising and inventory
- Create better understanding of the link between effective Merchandising and influencing the Product mix/sales
- Provide Merchandising training support to the Training function
- Define and manage the process of communicating plans to store partners and teams
- Manage any store requests relating to their Merchandising queries
- Manage frame lifecycle: from strategy, to forecast, to launch, to discontinue
- Establish themselves as the expert of frames, having knowledge on our frame range as well as Canadian frame trends
- Define and deliver effective Merchandising communications to stores and internal stakeholders through the different channels
- Produce and maintain a comprehensive Merchandising guides for stores, using appropriate tools
- Own Ease of Shop deliverables (articulation and delivery of the implementation, shape differentiation, etc), considering the link to an omnichannel customer experience
- Product training
- Define and deliver comprehensive product training (focus on frame ranges) to upskill our store teams, so they can effectively articulate features and benefits, brand information, and general product information for customers
- Produce and maintain a comprehensive Merchandising guides for stores
- Demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships with partners and colleagues including the Brand Creative Manager and LAM Teams
- Proactively demonstrates and encourages team collaboration with the Product, Marketing, Retail and BD teams
- Continuous comms with other regions about merchandising to learn and share amongst the Specsavers network
- Active member of the product team, contributing towards continuous improvement and always striving to put the customer first.
- Search for new ways to improve merchandising standards from reading trade publications, IT solutions, guides and practical learning.
- Work on any new or existing projects within the product team, that contribute to the success of Specsavers growth.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years’ experience in a multi-site retail Product and/or Merchandising roles
- Customer focused and highly organized: genuinely enjoys engaging with different interlocutors at all levels
- Demonstrated capacity to determine priorities, meet strict deadlines and effectively balance competing demands and the ability to work under pressure both independently and as a member of a team
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to prepare and present reports and documentation of high quality and integrity and the capacity to deal with a wide range of clients and staff
- Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgment, initiative, diplomacy, tact and discretion and proven ability to handle information, and materials in a confidential and appropriate manner
- Ability to negotiate with suppliers and keeping a value for money ethos when managing / spending budgets
- Retail experience within a Product and/or Merchandising role
- Project management skills with the ability to manage cross functionally
- Able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering innovative Product and Merchandising solutions in a retail environment
- Able to demonstrate a genuine passion for the Products we sell
- Highly competent computer skills (InDesign or similar, Office package)
