About The Opportunity

McDougall Energy is looking for a dynamic individual to join us in the role of Procurement Manager. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Performance, the Procurement Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing our strategic procurement initiatives. In this role, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for negotiating service requirements, pricing, and terms with vendors for company purchases, excluding fuel, lubricants, and propane. Drawing on insights from specific departments ordering and utilizing the products and/or services, the Procurement Manager will lead the way in ensuring optimal purchasing processes are established and maintained.

As MEI transitions to a new ERP system, this is a unique opportunity for the Procurement Manager to contribute to the restructuring of our organizational framework. Providing valuable input into the evolving procurement structure, refining purchasing processes, and leading the way in enhancing overall procurement efficiency. The Procurement Manager will be at the forefront of aligning our purchasing strategies with organizational goals, contributing to a seamless integration of the ERP system, and fostering continuous improvement with the procurement function.

Responsibilities Include

  • Effective sourcing and delivery of supplies and company purchases.
  • Ongoing management of supplier performance and management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain purchasing and contract management policies and procedures in accordance with the Company’s goals.
  • Access sourcing opportunities and supply markets to develop and implement various sourcing strategies.
  • Use formalized sourcing best practices, including consistent negotiations, supplier identification, RFQ or RFP standards or procedures.
  • Manage supplier relationships and cost, identify cost saving alternatives and work with internal stakeholders to monitor vendor performance.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Provide user training to business stakeholders regarding the procurement process, policy, system, and transactions.
  • Review terms of all new and existing vendors to ensure they are acceptable and best negotiated for the Company.
  • Overall management of procurement process to drive savings, improve business performance, and comply with all corporate, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Key player in strategic decision making that will shape the future of our procurement processes.

About You

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of progressive experience in a purchasing/procurement function.
  • College Diploma in business, finance, or related field.
  • Professional Certification in Procurement/Purchasing is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems and technology.
  • Good judgement, analytical and time management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience in strategic sourcing processes.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management and a keen awareness of overall costs.
  • Proficiency in technology and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic business environment.
