Located in Elliot Lake in Northern Ontario, halfway between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, Elliot Lake Retirement Living (ELRL) is Ontario’s leading provider of affordable housing for retirees. This not-for-profit corporation owns and operates 1,375 rental units in a full-service community and provides affordable housing and an improved quality of life for its tenants. With over 30 years of operation, ELRL has emerged as one of Ontario's most popular retirement communities. Its modern infrastructure, affordable housing, and pristine natural surroundings contribute to the exceptional quality of life enjoyed by tenants in accommodations provided and managed by Elliot Lake Retirement Living.


A significant contributor to the local economy, and the well-being of Elliot Lake, the team and Board of Directors of ELRL has worked closely with the City of Elliot Lake to bring forward various projects, and to attract retirees, positioning the community as a retirement destination. With a focus on continuing the community’s growth and development, ELRL has identified a number of opportunities and projects to further advance the city’s economy, including the potential development for new residential units.


The General Manager plays a crucial role in driving operational success, ensuring the continued growth of the organization and economic success of the region. As an integral part of the community, they will balance the hands-on oversight, while driving the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring high standards of service and supporting the economic growth of the Elliot Lake community. Their leadership is pivotal in planning and leading all aspects of the organization, ensuring operational efficiency and excellence. Through strategic planning and organizational development, the General Manager will identify opportunities for continued growth and innovation, guiding the organization towards continued success across all business functions. Their leadership fosters a culture of accountability, adaptability, and continuous improvement, solidifying the organization and the City of Elliot Lake’s reputation and long-term success.


The ideal candidate is a community-driven leader who strategically guides the organization towards sustainable growth. Well versed in business principles, you have an appreciation for and demonstrated experience leading municipal and socio-economic partnership opportunities with the City of Elliot Lake and surrounding areas. You excel in collaborating and can act as a connector who fosters strong partnerships with stakeholders. Forward-thinking and visionary, you recognize the community's potential and understand that the organization serves as the economic engine driving regional success. Bringing 10+ years experience in progressive leadership roles, it is critical for success that the next GM bring related business management experience, ideally in asset management, rental housing, or real-estate and previous experience leading a business with multiple portfolios and business units.
