Job Description

Are you ready to ensure the efficient and safe operation of instrumentation and electrical systems in a high-performing manufacturing environment? The Instrumentation and Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing control systems and electrical equipment within our automated facility. Success in this role means contributing to a quality-driven, safety-first environment while delivering exceptional results for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Maintenance: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and controls infrastructure, electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including PLCs, control logic, motors, drives, and other automated equipment.
  • Read and Interpret Schematics: Use electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to identify and address electrical problems.
  • Install and Test Systems: Install, test, and calibrate electrical systems and components in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate on Schedules: Work with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a manufacturing environment exposed to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Industrial Control Technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial setting, performing electrical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, motors, drives, and automation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to work in cross functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Technical diploma or certification in instrumentation and controls with Red Seal or willingness to obtain.
