We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for the development and delivery of environmental planning and permitting services in the Energy Market in Western Canada. Experience in midstream oil and gas is critical.

Key Accountabilities

Job Description

Working with a national team and others across the business, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities, clients, and projects to target, with the objective of maximizing opportunities and ensuring effective cross-selling through existing service offerings. Your contributions to the development of our people will be equally as important. As such, you will play a role in building the business and growing our revenues in a key market segment for SLR.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter and team player who can work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail, cost and quality controls. You will be expected to demonstrate compliance to company policies and procedures, legislative requirements and act as a role model for SLR values and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

Your specific responsibilities will include:


  • You will be required to play a key technical leadership role within the Planning and Assessment service line, including project leadership, financial management, resource management and management of technical and commercial risk.
  • Supporting the development of multidisciplinary project teams including compilation of technical documents to support regulatory submissions
  • Leading and supporting business development activities, such as contributing to proposals and pre-qualification submissions
  • A variety of roles and responsibilities within environmental impact assessment, permitting, compliance and due diligence projects across multiple sectors and geographies
  • Implementing consultation and engagement programs, including effectively communicating with clients, regulators, and stakeholders
  • Directing projects and assisting with project management duties including budget, scope and schedule tracking
  • Report writing and review
  • Promoting and maintaining a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation.

Qualifications


  • Post-secondary degree specializing in a related technical environmental discipline (environmental science or engineering, ecology, environmental law/policy).
  • 15 (or more) years experience required
  • Team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with an ability to synthesize technical information and develop plain language summaries.
  • An understanding of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental regulatory and permitting requirements.
  • Experience in a similar role in an environmental consulting environment is considered an asset.
  • An understanding of international environmental and social impact assessment standards, guidelines and processes is an asset.
  • Ability to travel within Canada periodically, as required.
