You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Junior Mechanical Engineer to be based in either Burlington or the Toronto Downtown office. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing you being located in another office location.

About The Role

• Supporting senior engineers in preliminary and detailed design of materials handling equipment including conveyors, transfers and chutes, handling a variety of bulk materials.
• Performing calculations for design of material handling system.
• Support senior engineers in guiding mechanical designers to produce technical drawings to layout and communicate technical requirements to contractors for construction.
• Execute and deliver projects in varying size and complexity in local, national and international locations.
• Prepare technical specifications, documents and reports as needed for the project.
• Participate in detailed field inspections of existing materials handling equipment to identify deficiencies or operational concerns, including motion checks and documentation of findings in a report.
  
  

About You

• A university degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences.
• Knowledge of 2D design/drafting software (AutoCAD or similar) and 3D design / drafting software (Solidworks or similar).
• Up to 3 years’ experience working in mechanical engineering, preference for experience within consulting engineering company environment. Experience on materials handling projects is considered an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience preparing reports and drawings.
• Fluency in another language, preferably either French or Spanish would be considered an asset.
• The ability to meet the challenge of tight deadlines and providing exceptional service to our clients is a must.
