Position Information
Temporary until approximately March 31, 2026.
Reporting directly to the Clinical Manager, Healthcare and Workforce Innovation, the purpose of the role of the Corporate Clinical Preceptor, RN is to provide on-going support to clinical externs, resource team nurses and orderlies within the organization. Through this initiative and in collaboration with the unit leadership team, safe and high-quality patient care and employee retention is improved.
The Corporate Clinical Preceptor, RN works with the Enhanced Extern/Resource program leadership in collaboration with the unit leadership to ensure successful onboarding and integration of newly hired clinical externs, resource team nurses and orderlies within various clinical areas across the organization. The Corporate Clinical Preceptor, RN meets with new employees at regularly scheduled intervals and works with the employee to identify areas in which they may require additional support/training/education.
The role serves as an extra layer of support for clinical externs, resource team nurses and orderlies and facilitates unit leadership in identifying challenges new employees are experiencing in a timely manner to enhance their successful transition into practice. Corporate Clinical Preceptors participate in the delivery of Corporate Nursing Orientation and provide on-unit support and guidance and facilitate with in-the-moment education and teaching of technical and non-technical skills.
Rotation/Shifts
Days, 8 hour shifts.

- 4-year Undergraduate Degree, Registered Nurse;
- Current CNO Registration, RNAO;
- Current BCLS;
- Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience as a health professional in a multi-union organization;
- Minimum of Two (2) years’ of leadership experience;
- Advanced knowledge and skill with use of computers, specifically Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel documents and Epic;
- Working knowledge to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, and lead with an in-depth knowledge of adult learning theories;
- Excellent knowledge of evidence-based practice;
- Superior knowledge of CNO practice guidelines, best practice guidelines and scope of practice;
- Ability to communicate effectively;
- Ability to develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, including the ability to facilitate change;
- Solid organizational skills to help manage competing priorities and balancing multiple tasks;
- Leadership and facilitator/coaching skills;
- Excellent analytical and listening abilities to accurately summarize key information;
- Strong clinical assessment skills and competencies that will help support nurses and clinical staff;
- High level of initiative, time management skills, and ability to prioritize;
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, autonomously, and as a team member;
- Ability to assess inquiries and problems and to exercise good judgment in taking appropriate actions;
- Ability to foster an environment of openness, non-judgmental behaviour, inclusiveness, and professionalism.
