The Role

As Analyst, Development, you will play a critical role in creating value and maximizing investment returns across First Capital’s development pipeline of retail, multi-family, and mixed-use projects. Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, Development you will use your analytical skills and insights to guide our decision-making and contribute to the successful execution of our real estate development opportunities.

What You Will Do

  • Create detailed financial models for single and multi-phase development projects, including scenario and sensitivity analysis to inform decision-making and evaluation of investment options.
  • Assist in the creation of presentations and investment memorandums to facilitate the internal approvals process.
  • Collaborate with the Development, Construction, Leasing, and accounting teams in the full project lifecycle budget monitoring and reporting process, including updating proforma models and preparing quarterly reports for internal management and joint-venture partners.
  • Assist with construction financing applications and the monthly loan draw process.
  • Prepare various project and portfolio reports to be used by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Asset Strategy, Investments, and Development teams on various group initiatives and special projects; and
  • Participate in special projects and take on other duties, as assigned.

What You Bring

  • 1-3 years of relevant commercial real estate experience in development, investment, asset management, valuations, or lending.
  • Experience in retail, multifamily, and/or mixed-use is nice to have.
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or Engineering. MBA, CFA, CPA, or AACI are considered an asset.

What You Need To Be Successful

  • Strong financial modelling capabilities and a solid understanding of finance concepts and terminology.
  • High proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint. Familiarity with Argus Enterprise is considered an asset.
  • General knowledge of related development fields, including leasing, operations, investment, design, and construction.
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills with the ability to present findings and conclusions in a "non-technical" manner.
  • Passionate team player that can collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders but can also work independently.
  • Oriented to produce high-quality work and achieve results through taking ownership, problem-solving, creative thinking, and continuous innovation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, dealing with competing priorities and tight deadlines through organizational and time management skills.
