Scope Of Position
The Composite Technician will be involved in repair, fabrication, modification, removal, and installation of composite items, parts, assemblies, and structures. Composite fabricating work requires knowledge of the physical properties and working characteristics of plastic, composite, and compound ingredients, with a basic knowledge of metals, metal properties, and metal characteristics.

Scope Of Position
The Composite Technician will be involved in repair, fabrication, modification, removal, and installation of composite items, parts, assemblies, and structures. Composite fabricating work requires knowledge of the physical properties and working characteristics of plastic, composite, and compound ingredients, with a basic knowledge of metals, metal properties, and metal characteristics.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and manufacturers’ instructions with specifications, ply orientation, termination, and stacking sequence of laminates
- Laminating and vacuum bagging of composite materials as per the instructions
- Curing of thermoset resin systems using autoclave/oven
- Assembling, mating/fitting, skins/component/assemblies, substructures, and/or honeycomb cores
- Making master molds/patterns and performing cutting and finishing operations
- Structural bonding of metallic and composite materials
- Ensure that the customer’s requirements, which include project timing, part quality and delivery are understood and met
- Achieve production schedule
- Consider alternative solutions for given tasks or problems
- Attend meetings as required
- Be responsible for all parameters of assigned tasks
- Ensure the shop environment is kept safe, clean and organized
- Provide training, guidance and assistance to co-workers as required
- Ensure adequate communication with other program team members
- Maintain accurate timesheets and ensure they are completed on time
- Follow all documented quality ATF 16949 procedures
- Observe all company safety rules, policies and procedures
- Attend all required training courses
- Participate in MAMT’s continuous improvement activities
- Foster good employee relations
- Ability to use and operate tools and equipment including:
- Measuring instruments such as gram scales to weigh resins
- Hand & Orbital Sanders
- Grinders, cutters, drills, and fasteners to remove or join materials
- Rulers, squares, forms and templates to measure materials and trim lines
- Scissors, shears, knives and power saws to cut and trim materials
- Rivet guns, drills, files, squeegees, and rollers to accomplish fabrication and final installation
- Plan and accomplish the repair/manufacture of laminated items with complicated and varied shapes
- Interpret and apply directions relating to the mixture, ratios, uses, cure times, temperatures, and pressures of composite materials, resins, solvents, and mold release agents
- Determine dimensions and sizes in drawings and blueprints to make templates used in making, cutting, and trimming final products
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Basic knowledge of industry standard Windows application.
