A Day in the Life
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of enterprise architects, promoting a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and excellence.
- Legacy Modernization & Migration Strategy: Develop a comprehensive target architecture and phased roadmap for the migration or rewrite of core legacy, and mainframe applications. Utilize modern design patterns and architectural frameworks to transition these critical systems, ensuring long-term scalability, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
- M&A Integration Architecture: Design and establish a flexible architecture that facilitates the rapid and seamless integration of acquired companies’ systems with ours. Develop reusable integration patterns and frameworks to address technical debt from acquisitions and accelerate time-to-value for M&A activities.
- Third-Party Integration Model: Architect a consolidated model to streamline and simplify third-party integrations. Develop a unified approach to enable external organizations to integrate with our services efficiently, allowing for enhanced service delivery and scalability of integration points.
- Architectural Patterns & Standards: Build and maintain a library of architectural patterns and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency across the organization.
- Solution Architect Development: Guide and mentor solution architects, enabling them to grow in their careers and contribute to our organizational architecture vision.
- Strategic Business Partnership: Collaborate with business leaders to shape roadmaps and ensure alignment between business objectives and technology investments.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a key communicator between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Present architectural decisions, roadmaps, and progress updates in a clear, concise manner. Build strong relationships across departments to ensure alignment and buy-in for architectural initiatives, and facilitate cross-functional discussions to ensure solutions meet both technical and business needs.
- Architectural Governance: Establish governance frameworks and enabling constraints to ensure architectural quality and agility, balancing innovation with operational resilience.
- Lean & Agile Advocacy: Promote lean and agile principles within the architecture and engineering teams, driving practices that enhance flexibility, speed, and responsiveness.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, or another related field
- 10+ years in enterprise architecture, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing complex environments, legacy modernization, and integration challenges.
- Proven experience with architecture frameworks, legacy migration, M&A integrations, and API-led connectivity models.
- Strong track record of leading and mentoring high-performing architecture teams.
- Deep understanding and application of lean and agile methodologies in architecture.
- Enterprise Architecture Frameworks: TOGAF, ArchiMate
- Success in designing and managing RESTful APIs
- Experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft, Kong, or AWS API Gateway)
- Familiarity with integration patterns, including ESB (Enterprise Service Bus), microservices, and event-driven architectures
- Expertise in M&A integration strategy, architecture, and technical debt management
- Knowledge of data migration techniques, data cleansing, and ETL tools
- Familiarity with architectural patterns for merging different technology stacks
- Experience building scalable, reusable integration frameworks to support third-party access
- Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, SSO, and other security practices for secure integration
- Familiarity with iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) solutions for streamlined connections with external parties
- Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms: AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Knowledge of cloud-native design patterns, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless computing
- Experience with hybrid cloud and multi-cloud strategies
- Understanding of data governance, data security, and master data management (MDM)
- Knowledge of database systems: SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra), and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift)
- Experience with data integration and data streaming tools (e.g., Kafka, Apache Nifi)
- Strong grasp of security architecture, including secure software design principles, network security, and identity management
- Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to the industry (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2)
- Experience with designing and managing microservices architecture
- Knowledge of event-driven patterns, message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka), and CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Segregation) for high-volume transaction
