The Opportunity

The Corporate Accounting team within our Controller department is seeking a collaborative and analytical individual who has knowledge and experience in the accounting of corporate derivative and hedging activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for accounting for TC Energy’s interest rate and foreign exchange derivatives and hedging transactions in SAP
  • Research, develop and maintain financial statement and MD&A disclosure for financial instruments and risk management under US GAAP
  • Prepare hedge documentation and hedge effectiveness testing
  • Collaborate with our Financial Trading team to provide accounting expertise in the practical application of derivative and hedge accounting
  • Perform detailed analysis of various financial statement accounts
  • Assist with ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required


Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business/Commerce or related field
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive related accounting experience
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered


Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical accounting knowledge of derivatives and hedging under US GAAP will be considered an asset
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Advanced computer skills with strong proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Working knowledge of SAP will be considered an asset
