Director, Employee Experience & Engagemen | The Opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for the planning and leadership of the HR Operational and Engagement functions, partnering with business leaders and stakeholders to align HR strategies with business objectives, and addressing HR needs with effective solutions. The Director also oversees the analysis of employee feedback, job grading, and compensation programs, and ensures compliance with employment laws.

Additionally, the Director participates in global HR projects, collaborates with leaders, and provides insights from HR metrics to the leadership team. Building strong relationships with senior leaders and managers, the Director offers strategic advice and consultation, manages employee related organizational changes, supports change management strategies, and drives a culture of excellence and innovation within the HR function and across the organization.

The Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to HR Operational, engagement, and communications functions, and ensure they meet the established KPIs for service quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Create and develop a multi-year strategic roadmap focused on best-in-class initiatives leveraging data to implement strategies that promote and achieve service excellence and high engagement.
  • Partner with business leaders, HR Leadership team, and other key stakeholders to align HR strategies and initiatives with the overall business objectives, identify and address the HR needs and challenges of the organization, and provide solutions and recommendations
  • Oversee the analysis and reporting of employee feedback and survey data and ensure an effective process to collaborate with the business to implement action plans based on the results.
  • Provide direction for all job grading and compensation programs in Canada, ensuring alignment with global standards and practices as well as local market competitiveness and compliance. Partner with the global compensation team and local HR team to develop and deliver effective communication and education on compensation policies and processes for managers and employees.
  • Participate in global HR projects and initiatives and collaborate with other HR leaders across the organization
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the monitoring, analysis and reporting of HR metrics and trends and present insights and feedback to the leadership team and stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders and managers across the business, and provide strategic and operational advice and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations related to health and safety, human rights, employment standards, and other HR matters.
  • Oversee and guide strategies for Employee Engagement, the development of policies & procedures, and management of Communications.
  • Effectively manage employee-related organizational changes and support the implementation of change management strategies and plans that maximize employee engagement.
  • Drive a culture of excellence, innovation, and engagement within the HR function and across the organization.

The First-Year Objectives

  • Align Human Resources programs and policies across all Business Units in Canada
  • Effectively lead the Change Management & communication plan for the new HRMS system and HR Operating Model
  • Fully embed the new global job grading program across Canada
  • Partner with leaders and the HR team to develop and implement actions to further our positive and inclusive work culture
  • Lead the analysis of HR related data to recommend and implement strategies that promote and achieve HR service excellence and high engagement.

The Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 7+ years of professional experience emphasizing employee engagement, employee experience, change management, or other related HR disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing HR operations and employee engagement functions.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws and regulations, as well as global HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage several programs/projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment often interrupted by immediate support requirements.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, analytically, and creatively, and to drive change and innovation within the HR function and the organization.
  • Highly collaborative, adaptable, and customer-focused, with a passion for delivering exceptional employee experience and engagement.
  • French/English Bilingual an asset
