Overview
In this position you will apply your technical knowledge to evaluate existing buildings and design solutions for the complex and unique problems of our clients. Projects will include a mix of residential, multi-family, and commercial projects, with an emphasis on repair of damage from fire, wind, flood, and impacts, as well as adaptive reuse of older buildings, and enhancements to existing facilities to accommodate changes in use and implementation of equipment and machinery. You must be able to balance several projects simultaneously and be detail orientated. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
Essential Job Functions
Physical Demands – Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on sloped and flat roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. Working at heights, including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages, and mechanical lifts will be necessary. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports.
Overtime – This position is classified as exempt. There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.
Travel – This position requires up to 30% local area travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
The Salary Range for this position is $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Building Sciences, Structural, Building Envelope, or Architectural).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- 5+ years of experience in a consulting firm, focusing on Building Sciences, building/structural remediation, or energy retrofits.

Essential Job Functions
- Lead and oversee the design, analysis, and implementation of building sciences engineering projects.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to integrate building science principles into the design process for various types of construction projects, such as residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
- Perform on-site evaluations and assessments of existing buildings to identify potential concerns.
- Analyze and interpret building condition assessments to identify areas of concern and implement corrective measures.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in building science, green building technologies, and code standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Review technical drawings and provide technical details to CAD technicians.
- Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and work with the Business Development team to prepare proposals for building science projects.
- Measuring of building dimensions and quantifying on site and from drawings.
- Interpretation and hand drawing of in-situ construction details.
- Client interfacing, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a focus on Building Sciences, structural, building envelope or architectural engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience in a Consulting firm setting, with a focus on projects related to Building Sciences, building rememdiation, structural remediation, energy retrofits, and related.
- Experience with client relations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- This is an on-site position. The selected candidate will be required to work from the office during all business days.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge in areas related to building sciences and structures.
- Understanding of building construction, including methods, materials, and systems is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to details, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data collection and notation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Self-motivated, self-driven, and able to multi-task.
- Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to provide leadership to junior engineers and technicians.
