Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Geoscientist to join our team! In this role you will get to support geological work at the Giant Mine Site.

Parsons is the Construction Manager of the Giant Mine Remediation Project. This is a world class remediation project using innovative methods to deliver a safe environment. The project is expected to last over 10 years and is located just outside the City of Yellowknife, NWT. We are looking for highly motivated and qualified geoscientists and engineers who have experience managing environmental and/or civil construction projects. This is a Yellowknife, NWT based position.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Completing field and office duties associated with the environmental or construction program at the site
  • Inspecting work areas for environmental regulatory compliance and construction design specifications
  • Reviewing subcontractor construction and environmental submittals
  • Assist project managers or independently manage environmental and or construction work packages to procure and delivery the construction scope, schedule, budget, and quality of work packages delivered by sub-contractors
  • Compliance with all regulatory requirements and monitoring
  • Oversee work of subcontractors by monitoring and managing their compliance to adhere to environmental and safety standards
  • Preparation of monthly reports on work package progress with scope, schedule and budget compliance assessment
  • Participate on status briefings with the client when required


What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, or a directly related technical field;
  • Professional Geologist (P. Geo) Required
  • 5+ years of work experience in environmental, civil construction projects , northern mining or remediation projects
  • 5+ years of experience working in Northern Canada is an asset
  • Knowledgeable of industry practices and regulations
  • Knowledgeable of current technologies and how it can be effectively utilized on projects
  • Professional designation (or the ability to obtain one) as a professional geologist, engineer, CET
  • Experience managing on site activities of multiple subcontractors
  • Experience addressing and resolving issues with performance by subcontractors
  • Must have the ability to work independently and coordinate members of a team
