FACILITIES ENGINEER/SPECIALIST

Location : Thompson, MB


Working in partnership with Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney, MDS AeroTest operates the GLACIER aircraft engine icing test facility in Thompson, Manitoba. GLACIER is a unique, world-class facility that provides turbofan engine manufactures with a critical capability to conduct ice ingestion certification testing for the next generation of aircraft engines.


Reporting to the General Manager, the Facility Engineer/Specialist acts as the process owner for Facility Maintenance, Facility Configuration Control, along with Environmental, Health and Safety Processes. As the process owner, the Facility Engineer/Specialist defines, manages, and works with the support of others to execute the processes for which they are responsible.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan and execute the facility maintenance program to ensure the facility maintains a state of readiness to safely conduct engine testing.
  • Ensure all facility maintenance is carried out in accordance with company procedures.
  • Responsible for risk management of assigned Processes.
  • Coordinate/manage facility upgrade projects to ensure all engineering requirements are documented and met.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance program key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Act as the main point of contact and management for outside contractors, adhering to corporate procedures.
  • Perform background analysis and present proposals for facility
  • improvements.
  • Manage employee competence, training and awareness related to facility maintenance tasks.


What’ll help you succeed?

You have 4+ years of experience in the following areas:

  • Experience planning, supporting and/or executing maintenance of an industrial facility.
  • Experience providing technical guidance.
  • Experience operating within AS9100 / ISO9001 and ISO14001 accredited
  • management systems.
  • Industry related experience in Health and Safety would be an asset.
  • Industry related experience in Environmental Management Systems would be an asset.
  • Project Management skills would be an asset.


Who are we looking for?

You have an Engineering degree – preferably in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering

You are currently eligible to register or you are a Member of a Professional Engineering association in one of the Provinces or Territories – Nice to have

You have strong Microsoft Office suite skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project).

You have knowledge of and experience working within Health, Safety and Environmental regulations of one of the Provinces or Territories of Canada.

You’re capable of developing and enforcing safe working procedures and practices

You have valid first aid certifications or are willing to become certified.

You have good IT knowledge and skills in a networked environment
