Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Director, Compliance on a permanent basis on our Health, Safety, & Compliance team. This position is a hybrid opportunity preferably based in Saskatoon or Regina, but open to Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or Alberta.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee and lead the development of FCL's enterprise-wide compliance program, ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership on environmental matters, shaping policy, setting long-term goals for environmental performance, and integrating sustainability practices across business operations.
  • Driving the execution of FCL’s corporate plan by integrating sustainability practices across all business operations and processes.
  • Collaborate with leaders across various business units to manage compliance, supporting internal audits and the execution of corrective action plans when needed.
  • Lead corporate sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with FCL’s business objectives, environmental performance metrics, and long-term strategic goals.
  • Facilitate compliance reporting to the Board of Directors and other stakeholders, maintaining relationships with regulators and ensuring organizational compliance across business units


Who you’ll work with:

The Team: You will oversee our Environmental Affairs, Impacted Sites, and Sustainability teams, providing key leadership on strategic direction and department culture.

The Collaborators: You’ll work closely with top leaders, including the VP of Health, Safety & Compliance, and other groups within the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) to align compliance efforts with business goals, while spearheading initiatives that reduce environmental risks and enhance long-term sustainability.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in compliance, environment, and sustainability and:

  • Have 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental management or regulatory compliance with 5+ years of experience in leadership positions.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, a related science, or business. QMS, regulatory compliance, and/or internal auditing certificates would be an asset. (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
  • Have experience in compliance program strategy, design, and implementation.
  • Are a strong people leader with the ability guide groups through organizational change.
