We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Manager to join the team. The role encompasses a wide range of duties, some of which include managing labour, purchasing, administration, cost control, supplier and subcontractor coordination, communication, scheduling, pricing of change orders, financial ownership of your projects, establishing and managing client relationships.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Manager to join the team. The role encompasses a wide range of duties, some of which include managing labour, purchasing, administration, cost control, supplier and subcontractor coordination, communication, scheduling, pricing of change orders, financial ownership of your projects, establishing and managing client relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of project management including: start-up, obtaining building permits, preparing tenders, budgets, estimates and construction schedules.
- Works with in-house and external construction personnel to ensure project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining integrity of design.
- Mentor, coach and supervise Project Managers and subordinate staff.
- Ensure optimum utilization of labour, material and other resources across all projects.
- Oversee all onsite and offsite work to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
- Monitor and assess the performance of the project and the Project Managers.
- Communicates and confers with Foreman on the labour progress and makes financial judgement calls in monthly review on final labour hours.
- Complete detailed and accurate monthly financial forecasting reports and participate in project status review (PSR) meetings.
- Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships; review contracts for scope, maintain productivity, quality, and costs and ensure the projects are completed in a manner that supports the overall strategic and operational objectives of the company.
- Participate in client and construction meetings as required and to disseminate the information to our work force and subcontractors.
- Estimating and assisting in estimating if required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working as a Project Manager, within construction.
- Post-Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have hospital/healthcare experience.
- Vast experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and documents.
- Strong sense of urgency and the ability to multitask. Results and solutions-oriented individual.
- Management experience in the areas of hiring, firing and performance appraisals.
- A track record that clearly demonstrates effective leadership when interacting with multiple external clients
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
- Advanced knowledge of contract terms and conditions
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods. Advanced understanding of project financial controls
- Ability to give clear orders and work instructions, explain complex information to construction workers and clients, and discuss technical details with other building specialists and professionals such as architects.
- A track record of building successful teams, effectively motivating people and maintaining effective relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subtrades and staff.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and computerized scheduling packages.
- General understanding of QA / QC as well as Health and Safety practices / requirements
- Design/build experience is an asset
- Committed team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Procore (Construction Management Software) is an asset
