GFL Environmental is looking for a Waste Depot Lead Hand for our Markham MHSW Depot! The working hours are Thursday to Monday 8:15 am to 4:45 pm. Site closes at 3:45 pm on Sundays
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the operation of one of the York Region MHSW Depots.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents visiting the depot.
- Supervise and train staff.
- Provide all staff the required PPE and sure that they are wearing it all times.
- Responsible for safety of all workers, public, and visitors to the site.
- Perform physically demanding work.
- Identify, sort, and pack waste chemicals into appropriate storage containers.
- Schedule pickups with service providers for non-MHSW material (eg. Garbage, electronics)
- Maintain clean grounds and facility.
- Maintain and report any equipment that needs repair.
- Comply with all rules and regulations to do with operating the depot.
- Perform daily site inspections.
- Perform monthly safety talks to staff.
- Ensure a site Health & Safety inspection is performed every month.
- Complete daily reports of waste stored, received and shipped from site.
- Have good communication skills to deal with York Regional employees, and the public.
- Report to and receive authorization from the MHSW Program Coordinator.
- Responsible for overall plant safety and assuring that all staff are trained and comply with Health and Safety Policy.
- Assure that all staff and visitors to the plant are wearing the appropriate safety gear when in the plant and have been trained in the correct use.
- Manage staff in a professional and courteous manor.
- Attend safety committee meetings and follow up on action plans.
- Attend meetings at the corporate office as requested.
- Conduct occasional plant tours as requested.
- Report any accident to the Operations Manager immediately.
- Include the filling out of all forms with regards to accident investigations and recommendations.
