Contract type: Full time

Detailed Job Description
This is a great opportunity to join an organization that is committed to ending homelessness and improving the lives of the most vulnerable in our community.
In response to the overdose crisis, Cool Aid increased access to harm reduction supports and education through the Overdose Prevention Unit (OPU). This includes peer supports. Our objective is to meet clients ‘where they are at’.
The Harm Reduction Worker helps promote safe use and cultural safety within the site. Working at the OPU site, you will interact with service users, distribute harm reduction materials, and provide addictions information and referrals when required. Our role is to have a realistic and humane approach to supporting clients that access OPU services with the aim to help prevent overdose deaths.
The OPU is fully integrated into all aspects of the Rock Bay Landing program. The purpose of the OPU is to improve health outcomes for people who use illicit substances. Many of the people who use this service will be existing clients of the Rock Bay Landing shelter. As the Harm Reduction Worker, you will work collaboratively with both internal and external support networks, and the overall Rock Bay Landing Shelter Team to provide integrated supports to clients accessing the site’s services.
Qualifications
Portability Candidate upon hire may be eligible to transfer the hours worked with other Community Social Services Agencies under the Retention and Portability memorandum. Some restrictions may apply.
