The Vancouver office, located at Oceanic Plaza in Vancouvers CBD, supports South32’s Corporate Development and Exploration functions. The office was recently refurbished and provides a bespoke designed workplace environment with access to a vast array of amenities in proximity of key transport options.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Fixed Term 14 Month Contract position.

As the Exploration Geologist Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical and operational support to safely deliver South32’s Exploration strategy at the project level through effective management and deployment of specialized technical and operational support services across the North / Central American exploration portfolio.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

· The delivery of in-house geoscience technical and operational support for South32’s exploration projects, and project generative activities in north / central America.

· Responsible for contractor, Subject Matter Experts, project level supervision, and the implementation and continuous improvement of geoscience standards and practices to deliver against South32’s Exploration strategy, targets and objectives.

· Regular reporting on the progress of assigned exploration projects, including measure, track and report project performance and results, in addition to provide Exploration Management with information regarding any safety, financial, community and legal performance deviation or technical challenges.

· Support, implement and continuously improve geoscience standards and practices for Exploration and provide assurance that relevant activities are being conducted to a high quality and adherence to Exploration standards.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

· Bachelor’s degree in geoscience or an earth sciences discipline with 5+ years’ experience in exploration or related consulting

· Experience with 2D and 3D geological modelling using GIS and implicit / explicit modelling software e.g. Leapfrog / QGIS / ArcGIS Pro.

· Strong multi-commodity geoscience background, developed from early to advanced stage exploration and development experience across diverse deposit styles and geographies. A strong background in base metals exploration is required, particularly porphyry / skarn, carbonate replacement, SEDEX and VMS systems.

COMPENSATION RANGE - $80,800 - $121,200
