We have an immediate opening for a Courier Supervisor for our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Terminal.Full-Time Monday through Friday Days 5:30/6am to 2pmWe are seeking a highly organized and motivated Courier Supervisor to oversee daily operations for our Dartmouth courier team, ensuring efficient delivery processes and excellent customer service. The Courier Supervisor will manage a team of 12+ drivers, monitor performance metrics, ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), and handle a variety of operational tasks to maintain smooth and timely deliveries. This role requires a strong focus on team leadership, operational performance, safety, and logistics management.Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management & Supervision:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Dartmouth Courier team, ensuring that all drivers are on schedule and deliveries are executed efficiently.
  • Supervise and support drivers, providing guidance and direction as needed to maintain a high level of productivity and quality.
  • Handle driver issues and concerns in real time, providing solutions to any challenges that arise while on the road.
  • Conduct daily pre-departure meetings with the courier team to ensure all operational details are communicated clearly.
  • Approve timecards and manage driver attendance and schedules.
  • Hold disciplinary meetings as needed to address performance or behavioral issues.
  • Operations & Route Management:
  • Ensure that all delivery routes are at full capacity and that freight is flexed to neighboring routes if necessary to optimize efficiency.
  • Perform scheduled route rides with drivers, ensuring adherence to vehicle inspection protocols and monitoring vehicle cleanliness.
  • Monitor and support operational KPIs, including on-time delivery, scanning compliance, proof of delivery (POD) reporting, and Bringg usage.
  • Handle mis-sorts and ensure freight is redirected to the proper terminals by creating accurate freight bills.
  • Training & Development:
  • Responsible for training all new hires, ensuring they are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Coach and mentor drivers to improve performance, safety standards, and overall team cohesion.
  • Ensure ongoing development of the courier team to maintain high service standards and meet operational goals.
  • Reporting & Administrative Tasks:
  • Generate and run various operational reports related to courier performance, deliveries, and compliance.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the Courier Operations Manager

What we need from you:

  • A Willingness to Work! Dependability & a Good Attitude are key
  • Ability to lead a group of people (previous Supervisory experience an asset)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (emailing shift updates and reports daily)
  • Strengths in Conflict Resolution, Time Management, Multi-tasking
  • Ability to give and receive Constructive Criticism
  • Experience and understanding of the Truck Mate system is an asset
  • Reliable Transportation - must be living in the area
  • Previous experience operating Forklift (certification an asset)
  • Ability to use scanners, paperwork where required
  • Ability to work Safely in a fast-paced team environment
  • Attend Training sessions as required, i.e. Dangerous Goods, Forklift
  • Physically demanding, heavy lifting may be a requirement
  • Warehouse conditions: possible high noise levels, warm or cold environment (dependent on weather)
  • Safety boots/shoes
  • Clean criminal background
  • Willingness to undergo Driver Clearance if required
