We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 650+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 20 office locations in Canada.

We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory and over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen.

As our new Project Manager with a passion for working on environmental and architectural related projects, you will play your part in our Environmental Sciences Service Line delivering projects for our clients. You will work closely with the following teams:


  • Acoustics & Vibration
  • Air Quality
  • Microclimate (pedestrian wind and snow)


Job Description

Role

You will take on the full scope of project management responsibilities, including: proposal writing; initial budgeting and ongoing tracking of budgets, internal and external communication and coordination; mentorship and leadership responsibilities; coordination of deliverables and project closure and administration. You may also focus on business development initiatives, leveraging your influence and networks to help strategically grow our operations. Ultimately, this position is a project centric role.

It is preferable for the candidate to have experience with one of the three technical disciplines mentioned above. However, SLR provides a wide range of environmental services so similar experience in other areas or disciplines of environmental consultation is welcome. Experience and knowledge in managing projects with typical values ranging from $5,000 to $150,000 is expected, but experience managing projects with budgets in excess of $500,000 would be an asset.

Knowledge of a wide range of business sectors and the ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams will also be key to your success.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:


  • Develop proposals and budgets with the financial acumen to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget, working with the technical experts and project director.
  • Develop and implement plans to expand business opportunities in our Environmental Sciences Service Line.
  • Participate in a variety of projects through study design, analytical QA/QC, advisory services, specialized field surveys, and review of technical reports.
  • Provide technical and business mentorship to other staff members.
  • Participate nationally with the Service Line Teams and other technical disciplines throughout our Canadian operations.


Where do we need you?

Preference is to be based in Guelph, Ontario to be with the other regional team members but with flexible work options. Expectations for at least two days in the office, with flexibility as needed. Flexible on location for the right candidate. Travel across North America may be required for projects or team related activities. Travel within Canada is a possibility, especially locally in Ontario.

  • Competitive total compensation plan, including comprehensive benefits, vacation, and RRSP, reviewed every 6 months.
  • The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:


  • Minimum five years of experience in Project Management in environmental consulting is preferred.
  • A PMP designation will be recognized but is not mandatory.
  • Excellent and confident written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with and manage multi-disciplinary projects and teams across Canada. We work in various sectors, specifically building development, infrastructure, power and energy, and mining. Experience in these sectors is beneficial.
  • Ability to develop business opportunities and have an excellent approach to client service.
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements.
  • Degree in environmental science, engineering, or related studies
  • Must be able to live and work in Canada and preferably travel to the US for occasional project work as required.
