Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a hard-working and motivated Junior Engineer to join our Materials Technology Team at our Peterborough location. You will join a team of enthusiastic, dedicated technicians and other engineers while operating under the supervision and mentorship of our civil and geotechnical engineering professionals.

This is an entry-level position, but intermediate roles are available based on your experience and technical certifications within this service line.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Completion of Quality Assurance and Quality Control materials testing services on-site for various construction projects within Peterborough and the surrounding areas.
• Conducting compaction testing during site grading and backfilling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.
• Assisting senior staff with engineering analysis, design, and reporting.
• Concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for various building and infrastructure projects.
• Support field staff in investigative work including concrete coring, specialized testing, test pit investigations, and site data collection.
  
  

What you will bring to the team:

• University degree in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, or Geological Engineering
• 2 years of experience with materials technology, conducting compaction testing during site grading and backfilling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
• The capacity and willingness to learn new skills and testing procedures.
• Access to a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license to carry out daily site inspections.
• Competent with the use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
• Ability to lift and carry 23.7 kg (50 lbs.)
• Willingness to work a regular 40-hour work week and possible overtime up to a limit of 13 hours total per day.
• Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day using a personal vehicle.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
