Our Recreation Department is looking for a dedicated Custodial Worker I to join the team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of cleaning, garbage pick-up, set-up/take down of tables and chairs and minor maintenance tasks in an assigned building or building area.
  • May require repeated heavy physical demands including but not limited to long periods of standing and climbing stairs.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License may be required depending on the building.
  • Minimum two years' experience cleaning and upkeep of a major facility.
  • Initiative and time management skills required to organize your own work.
  • Self-starting attitude with an exceptional service approach.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Tactful Communication (verbal and written) with co-workers and customers.
  • Responsible to ensure building security and customer safety.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks within established facility standards.
  • Certification in First Aid and WHMIS.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.

Successful candidates may be required to obtain a police information check and vulnerable sector query prior to starting in the position.

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 42 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation

Starting Salary $31.71 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
