A Mechanical Designer is responsible for completing the following duties:

A Mechanical Designer is responsible for completing the following duties:
- Creation and routing of bills of material and maintenance of detail drawings
- Use CAD software to perform initial design functions and detail drawings
- Use Windows-based PC software, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Create accurate detail drawings according to general drafting standards
- Understand dimensioning and tolerancing
- Create bills of material in a structured manner
- Select standard steel shapes in design whenever possible
- Maximize steel usage by efficient layout of parts
- Utilize the capabilities of the Superior shop equipment when selecting steel
- Keep and maintain the drawing number log
- Be aware of existing designs to reuse / share as appropriate
- Verify that markups on shop drawings and/or bills of material are valid and are carried through
- Other duties as assigned
- Training and / or experience in Drafting / Detailing
- Training and / or experience in using AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent
- Training and / or experience in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- Able to uphold company core values
- Projects are functional, easily manufactured, and meet customer expectations
- Component design is completed according to schedule
- Designs meet Superior Industries’ engineering standards
- Design analysis, drawings, and bills of material are accurate
- Use CAD, Windows-based, and Google-based programs effectively
- Desire to build long term relationships
- Exhibition of good communication skills when working with fellow employees
- Ability to tolerate physical demands of the position
- Ability to complete tasks according to planned schedule
