Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing insightful analysis and recommendations to influence initiatives in the business, will will play a key role in the annual operating budget, forecasting and multi-year planning process and will support programs and the Leadership team by providing evidence based-analysis for effective decision-making. This individual will be responsible for financial metric assessments across key financials (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) and will provide ongoing leadership and financial support to an assigned portfolio of programs from a forecasting and financial planning perspective as well as identify trends and opportunities to drive performance across business units. This individual will also provide thought leadership in the development of financial systems and reporting tools, adopting and changing them as business and the industry changes and grows.

This individual will also provide thought leadership in the development of financial systems and reporting tools, adopting and changing them as business and the industry changes and grows.
- Prepare and analyze daily/weekly/monthly reports and reconciliations
- Prepare month-end variance analysis and commentaries vs budget and forecasts
- Support transformation initiatives (product or services) on an ad hoc basis
- Build financial models and perform quantitative analysis to evaluate past performance and current trends, with the objective of influencing decision-making
- Perform financial modelling, simulations, sensitivity analysis, and testing
- Provide analytical support to financial forecasts and operating plans
- Compare anticipated and actual results and identify areas of improvement
- Collaborate with other analytical departments across the organization to bring new tools, data, and approaches to drive increasingly insightful recommendations across the company
- Clearly communicate findings to senior management, summarizing complex models in a way that can be easily understood by non-technical stakeholders
- Create and communicate reporting, presentations, dashboards and business commentary for senior leadership
- Engage in an ongoing pursuit to improve accuracy of financial forecasts across the different business units
- Provide quantitative support and analytical leadership to finance team
- Partner with cross-functional teams on ad hoc projects in support of strategic objectives
- Execute ad hoc analysis requests as required
- Critical thinking, can see the ‘big picture’ in a complex business environment
- Strong strategic thinking skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly present complex information to non-technical business partners, including senior management
- Time management and self-management skills
- Excellent analytical skills, with attention to explaining key variances
- High proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel, Word and PowerPoint mandatory and experience in building Excel Macros is preferred
- Experience in modeling business cases and building management reports
- Ability to interpret large amounts of financial and non-financial data and summarize it to present meaningful information to various levels of management
- 3 to 5 years experience as a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Analyst or similar role, including budgeting and planning experience
- Working knowledge of Power BI, AS400, Oracle and Toad is considered an asset
- Experience in retail, particularly multiple-location/national and multi-channel retail is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Business Data Analytics, Finance or related field
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
