POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
This position provides support for the planning and implementation of the summer camping program in consultation with the MU, Senior Staff team, and Camp Coordinator.
Accountabilities
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
Administration
Governance Boards and Councils: None
Internal: Camp Leadership, Camp Team
External: Summer campers
Managerial/Technical Responsibilities
Reports directly to the Children and Youth Coordinator.
Direct reports: none.
This position general coordination to campers and respective summer program staff.
Financial And Material Management
Working Conditions
The target hiring range for this position is $17.20 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
This position provides support for the planning and implementation of the summer camping program in consultation with the MU, Senior Staff team, and Camp Coordinator.
Accountabilities
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
Administration
- Report all equipment Maintenance: requirements to the Program Coordinator or designate.
- Ensure that recommendations for needed supplies are directed to the Program Coordinator or designate in a prompt manner.
- Assist Program Coordinator with staff schedules (i.e., break rotations, options facilitation, etc.).
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of evening programs in conjunction with other Senior Staff.
- Be a resource for Day Camp Counsellors looking for activities to do with campers during cabin times & rainy days.
- Be familiar with all camp equipment, how to care for it and operational requirements.
- Fill in as program replacement (Day Camp Counsellor) as required.
- Broaden the interests of the campers and be innovative in offering recreation activities.
- Ensure that inventory of the equipment is taken at the beginning of camp season and on an ongoing basis throughout the summer camping season.
- Inventory, label and store all activity equipment and supplies.
- Assist with staff training in conjunction with Day Camp Coordinator, and Senior Staff.
- Participate in camp cleanup at the end of each camp.
- Be available to attend all staff devotions and meetings. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

- Use of various cleaning chemicals and tools (ex: broom, mop, vacuum, etc.)
- Possible use of various program equipment (ex: sports, science, nature, etc.)
Working Conditions
- This position requires both indoor and outdoor activity.
- This position requires individuals to work in close proximity to others in a fast-paced and sometimes crowded environment, often outdoors.
- The work can be physically taxing and requires good mobility.
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.
- Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Relevant post-secondary coursework or education, adequate training and/or relevant experience is preferred (ex: Education program completion or degree, Outdoor Survival Skills, Theological Studies, Administration, Program Coordination).
- Standard First Aid + CPR & AED (Intermediate First Aid).
- Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 1 year experience working in a summer camping program setting.
- Skills and Capabilities:
- Clearance through internal Salvation Army child & youth abuse prevention protocols.
- Work within the total camp program and cooperate with other staff members.
- Flexible and have a good disposition.
- Able to maintain a responsible level of maturity and leadership.
- Able to lift, carry or move up to 29 lbs.
- This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
- Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment.
- Is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*: and,
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
- *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident.
