Construction Project Manager

Reporting to the Senior Director - Infrastructure, the Construction Project Manager will be responsible to assess projects from receipt to completion, leading and managing projects according to the commitment made by Telecon through contract negotiations with the Customer.
This individual will be responsible to interact with all levels of field personnel to obtain acceptable financial results and delivery of projects on time and on budget.
This position requires that the individual work closely with all other departments and divisions in order to optimize efficiency, resources and equipment to ensure that the company is in position for future growth opportunities.
This position requires the candidate to be Bilingual in English and French. This role will require travel within Ontario 10-20% of the time.
YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Estimate, plan and schedule project activities including logistics
- Monitor and control project costs; on a weekly basis, monitor trends according to project budget
- Lead by example – ensure all Health & Safety procedures are implemented on each project and best safety practices are applied
- Monitor productivity and recommend action plan for variances
- Manage and lead amendments to contracts and claims if required
- Source, negotiate and manage subcontractors as required
- Ensure proper quality procedures are applied and implemented
- Initiate and maintain proper communication between all stakeholders involved on the project: internally, externally and with customers
- Participate and prepare cost estimates for new projects; follow up on existing contracts to validate individual units or lump sum pricing
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
- 5 - 10 years utilities or civil construction experience
- 2 years in Project Management
- CET preferred or related experience
- Bilingual in both English and French Required
- Valid G Driver’s License – with a clean drivers abstract
- PMP designation an asset
- Outstanding interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to build strong relationships, gain credibility and network effectively with all levels of the organization and with external clients and partners
- Demonstrated project management skills, with extensive knowledge of project management principles and tools
- Detail oriented with strong analytical, organization and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, with expertise in MS Project, CAD and Visio
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Ontario Region as needed (10-20% of time)
