Some of what you will do:
As the manager of the DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) group, this role will be responsible for setting the standards, direction, and technology choices for how Staples automates the builds, deployments, monitoring, and alerting for all the Enterprise IT applications and systems. The DevOps team will define and implement best practices and blueprints to be used by the various Engineering groups across IT. The manager will need to socialize and evangelize the best practices within the organization to raise the profile of the DevOps group and have the group be seen as an essential resource for any Engineering group. Being able to work with both legacy and modern processes will be key for this role as well as being able to work in with both on premise and cloud technologies. The manager will be responsible for growing and developing the DevOps associates within the team.

Specifically, You Will
- Developing and mentor associates through proper task delegation and active observation and interaction.
- Evaluates performance of the assigned associates via the PDR process.
- Recruit new head count for the team resulting from expansion and/or to backfill due to attrition (voluntary and involuntary) within applications group.
- With guidance from the VP and HR, address and manage associate performance concerns if required.
- With guidance from the Sr Manager, manage 3rd party vendors in the support DevOps engineering tasks. This includes the daily management of consultants and temporary resources who are on contract.
- Manage and complete the business objectives supported and dependent of the applications within the assigned area.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science or equivalent working experience in software development.
- 5+ years of DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering related experience.
- 5+ years of Kubernetes experience.
- 3+ years of working with a public cloud (Microsoft Azure preferred, but AWS or GCP are acceptable).
- 3-5 years of software development life cycle.
- Solid business communication and analysis.
- 2+ years of experience managing or directing peer associates in a lead role.
- Experience in the retail sector is preferred however equivalent experience in other sectors within a software development context will also be considered.
- Microsoft Azure certification in either Solution Architecture or DevOps.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub build automation systems.
