Job Description
Buyer - Corporate Purchasing
Under direct supervision, responsible for requesting quotes on new projects, tracking, and following up with suppliers, analyzing quote responses, and making recommendations for sourcing. As well as, assisting with additional projects within the purchasing department.

Buyer - Corporate Purchasing
Under direct supervision, responsible for requesting quotes on new projects, tracking, and following up with suppliers, analyzing quote responses, and making recommendations for sourcing. As well as, assisting with additional projects within the purchasing department.

Performance Expectations
- Support the operating groups new business pursuit and sales process by:
- Assessing part prints / models / specifications with Commodity Leads to determine process.
- Requesting quotations for material and services.
- Following up with Suppliers to ensure accurate and timely response to support deadlines.
- Evaluate Supplier proposals and make pre-source recommendation.
- Negotiate with Suppliers to ensure best possible Quality, Service and Total Cost.
- Follow purchasing procedures in place of materials / services.
- Issue and maintain records.
- Assist in planning and achieving cost reduction goals.
- Completion of postsecondary schooling in Materials Management, Operations, Purchasing, or related field.
- A certificate in purchasing from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada may be required.
- Flexible/Adaptable to ever-changing priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills – highly analytical.
- Advanced computer skills – emphasis on Excel, Outlook, OneNote.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
- Blueprint reading is an asset.
- Engage in continuous learning to keep up-to-date information on new products and market trends, and to operate new automated sales and inventory management systems. Learn through daily work experience, by reading trade publications and by talking with co-workers, colleagues, and suppliers.
